Current Clinical Research

Clinical research affords colorectal fellows and surgeons the opportunity to assess surgical outcomes, as well as to follow the clinical course of inflammatory bowel disease and colorectal cancer. If we knew the clinical course of a particular disease, we might better be able to ascertain which surgical approach would work best for an individual patient.

The clinical research studies the Section is pursuing include the following:

  • Rectosigmoid cancers treated by general surgeons: Is an adequate oncologic procedure performed at initial operation?
  • Colorectal cancer in patients 40 years or younger.
  • Recurrent colorectal cancer: Can effective palliation be achieved?

To learn more about our ongoing studies, please contact our research coordinator Anna Williford, R.N., at (502) 583-0880 or email her at info@colidoscope.com.
