Current Basic Research

Researchers in the Digestive Surgery Research Laboratory are working tirelessly to unlock the mysteries of inflammatory bowel disease and colorectal cancer.

We believe that genetic research will provide clues to these baffling digestive diseases and may one day prevent, better manage, or cure them.

The laboratory projects the Section is currently pursuing are as follows:

  • Molecular markers for more accurate diagnosis of colonic IBD.
  • Identification of patients with colonic IBD at high risk of developing colorectal cancer.
